Alpha Gamma Rho at Iowa State Goes Romney

Iowa State Alpha Gamma Rho Goes Republican

The last place you’d expect to find political signs posted up on any lawn would be a Fraternity House. However, we spoke too soon because Alpha Gamma Rho at Iowa State was not shy about showing their republican pride. President of AGR, Andrew J. Lauver, mentions most of their members are very conservative and come from small towns and drive pick up trucks. They mostly are interested and majoring in something agriculture-related. Alpha Gamma Rho is known to be the “Farm Fraternity” actually. Although, they are very aware if someone is uncomfortable with a certain sign they know to take it town. One member broke down the school’s political spectrum saying if your more agricultural based, Romney has your vote, and if you are more design-based , the vote goes to Obama. In 2008, their school had major impact on the campaign, especially for Obama. Obama preached it was Iowa State who helped make such a “change” but many students now notice that the Obama trend is quickly decreasing. Now, the signs have been up at AGR’s house since summer, they make sure they are getting all their members to vote and are keeping a tally and list. Though we all know who won this campaign, congrats President Obama for a second term by the way, it is great our generation is keeping involved in such a movement where our nation needs most help.
