Greeks Rock the Runway With Tri Delta

Photographed by Teresa Benedetti

In previous year’s the lovely ladies of Delta Delta Delta at Cal State Long Beach put on a fashion show to represent the Greek community while raising awareness and money for their national philanthropy, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For as long as I have been an active Tri Delta, now recent alum, it gets better and better each year! I have had the awesome opportunity to participate as a sister at the successful event in the past, but this time it was different. As a full time Sales Representative and Graphic Designer, I enjoyed my time participating on the sidelines but still kept involved representing Greek Life Threads, which was one of the many vendors sponsoring Rock the Runway last night. Not only did Tri Delta come to us to design and order their awesome St. Jude Black V-necks, they asked us to do the same for this event and ordered fashionable long sleeves. So many new faces and new “DDD” actives, but it wasn’t hard for them to stand out in such great apparel of course. We also volunteered to have all the Greeks from each chapter on campus to model our apparel in a variety of different styles, colors, & seasons too! They modeled custom sunglasses, fun neon trucker hats, cute tanks, big & little letters, screen printed tees, fanny packs and much more! The fashion show was more than a huge success! Other vendors there included, Hurley, The Daily Grind, Legends Sports Bar, 49er Shops, Associated Students Inc., and 49er Athletics! Just to mention, this wasn’t your ordinary fashion show, it was a contest between the chapters with categories of “rep your chapter,” “pearly personality,” “Formal Wear,” and so on. Hailey Mendoza, a Delta Zeta & Sebastian Rodriguez, a Sigma Pi, won Mr. & Miss Rock Star! Greek Life Threads also donated fun gift bags to be auctioned off at the Silent Auction! Just one of many philanthropy events Tri Delt host’s each year, they have made it their mission and pledged to “raise $15 million in 5 years” nationally. The Philanthropy Chair, Allison Gallagher mentioned they are already at “$8.4 million, and are well on our way to completing our goal.” Greek Life Threads will be cheering them on along the way and will be here when they achieve that $15 million!
