Pi Kappa Alpha Shaves Heads for Cancer Research

The brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha from NYU have their annual fundraising event coming up this fall, rather than the Spring for the first time in a while. The fundraiser includes shaving heads to raise money and awareness for cancer research. The event was founded  by three alumni from “Pike’s” NYU chapter established in April of 2011. This event became such a huge success it became tradition. Since they moved this annual event to the fall, this gives the brothers more of  a chance to focus on Relay for Life in the spring. This event takes about 2 months ahead of time to get ready for. The brothers reach out to family, friends, and employers for donations in which 100% of the money collected will be donated to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a charity committed to funding research to cure childhood cancer. “At this point, the fraternity has raised about $12,600 in donations. Connelly expects to surpass their current goal of $15,000 on the actual day of the event.” The event was this past Saturday, Dec. 8th at Amity Hall in NY. Way to go Pike for holding another successful event for a great cause! For more information please visit: http://nyunews.com/2012/12/charity/
