The Season Of Giving

For the last eight years, Soldier’s Angels of Georgia have been preparing gift bags or should we say “stockings” to send to more than 5,000 Georgia-based deployed soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Amazing, right?! These festive stockings perfect for the holiday season every winter are jammed packed with comfort items as well as useful for the soldiers who are in desert environments of war zones. Some stockings include things such as: a new pair of socks, holiday candy, hot chocolate, cookies, lip balm, music CD, gloves, pocket comb, toothbrush, signed holiday cards from the public and other items.

The Calhoun ESA chapter Delta Nu and Elan Chapter Sigma Phi partnered with other ESA chapters in Georgia of this event by helping to supply such goodies and candy, as well as 1,500 pairs of socks. If you are wondering what ESA stands for, it is known as “Epsilon Sigma Alpha” which is a philanthropic organization that stays active constantly in community service. This years bags/stockings are already shipped and the troops should be receiving them soon. Now it’s on to 2013’s project of getting the stockings ready. It is also important that we share the Soldier’s Angels of Georgia’s motto: “May no soldier go unloved. May no soldier walk alone. May no soldier be forgotten. Until they all come home.” Happy Holidays everyone from us at Greek Life Threads!
